To the Space with Fotografiska: Brooke Holm

JAGA:

As autumn approaches, Fotografiska Tallinn turns its gaze to the stars with the major exhibition SPACE – A Visual Journey. In this episode you will meet on of the featured artist, Brooke Holm.

Brooke Holm is an Australian-American artist and photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Holm’s artistic practice observes the celestial and anatomical body of the Earth through large-scale photography, moving images, and sound projects.

Her artwork Valle Mortis is a sensory exploration into the temporal crisis that is the past, present and future as humanity looks to Mars as a speculative counterpart to life on Earth. The works reveal the topographical similarities between Death Valley on earth and Martian terrain through transitioning lenticular photographs.

SPACE – A Visual Journey, group exhibition, September 13 – January 18

The exhibition SPACE – A Visual Journey explores the celestial frontier where artistic expression and scientific inquiry meet, and captures the grandeur of the cosmos through the eyes of astronomers and the interpretive visions of artists alike. Through works by 14 different artists, we encounter questions about Earth, space, and our identities – who we are in the face of eternity, and who has the right to dream about the future?

The podcast is hosted by Fotografiska guide  Elo Aun.

Meile meeldib tõstatada küsimusi, kuid me ei pea neile vastama. Me ei väldi kriitikat, uskudes, et arutelud avavad uusi vaatenurki. Meile meeldib provotseerida, kuid fookuses pole provokatsioon ise. Me soovime inspireerida teadlikumat maailma.
